About the role
The Landmark Project and consortium, under the direction of Professor Michael Johnson at Imperial and is a unique, high profile research Partnership between Imperial, Parkinson’s UK (PUK) and several global pharma companies for drug target and causal biomarker discovery in Parkinson’s disease (currently £7m and growing). Landmark will use multiple layers of genomic data generated on human post-mortem brain tissue for systematic drug target identification and prioritisation for PD. This Research Project Manager post offers opportunities to work in an internationally unique research environment across academia and industry and to work with global leaders in drug discovery. The Project Manager will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of the various project components of the project, including developing costings and supporting patient and public involvement (PPI).

 

What you would be doing
The post-holder will be responsible for overall financial, contractual and operational project management of the Landmark Study including all its collaborative projects; thus ensuring Landmark is delivered on time and on budget and complies with all relevant research and information governance regulations. A key responsibility is the management of all the finances for the project and creating reports for budgetary spend, including creating finance reports to research partners.

 

What we are looking for
The postholder will be responsible for the effective and efficient day-to-day management and organisation Landmark and provide administrative support. Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

To navigate a complex financial award involving multiple funded partners; including charitable funders and the pharmaceutical industry.
To have a full understanding of the College financial systems and the human resource management system for grant management, financial management, payroll and human resource management.
Ensure robust financial control throughout the Landmark Project and all its sub- and collaborative projects, managing budgets for research grants, contracts and general non-staff expenditure accounts
Implementing throughout the project, in conjunction with the Departmental Management Team, new systems introduced by the College/Faculty in relation to research services, HR or Finance.
Assisting the Project Leads, in consultation with the Research Office, in maximising income from research grants and contracts, including advising on preparing the financial elements of grant applications and management of grants/contracts awarded. Including regularly reviewing expenditure and advising project leads of problems, recommending an appropriate course of action which may involve liaising with administrative and senior staff from the grant-giving body.
Manage sub-projects within the Landmark Project under the leadership of Professor Johnson to ensure they are delivered on time and to budget, and comply with all relevant clinical, research and information governance regulations.
