Nursery: Bright Horizons City Child Day Nursery & Preschool

Salary: £26,697.99 (dependent on qualification/s and experience)
Hours: Full time, 40 hours Monday – Friday

Location: Barbican, EC2Y 8AH

 

We are looking for a full time Early Years Apprentice to join our Bright Horizons City Child Nursery. Our nursery is situated in Barbican, London.

Purpose of Role:

The Apprentice is responsible for delivering exceptional care and education for children whilst undertaking a formal qualification in childcare. The Apprentice works with a team to ensure the nursery is compliant in all areas.

 

The role of the Apprentice is to support the children’s development in partnership with parents, offering contributions to observations and planning for next steps. As an Apprentice works alongside the nursery team to build strong partnerships with parents/carers and other professionals. They play an active part in creating a simulating environment for each child’s individual needs.

 

The role requires collaboration with others and taking responsibility for working in line with regulatory requirements, BH policies and procedures to develop the strength and reputation the Bright Horizons brand retains.

Demonstrate and ensure good practice and compliance with the revised EYFS Framework through adherence to BHFS policies and procedures
Understand the importance of keeping everyone safe and the part you play
Practice positive behaviour management techniques
Meeting the individual dietary, health, comfort and care needs of each individual child
Have a child centred approach, ensuring the activities on offer meet the children’s needs and are age appropriate
Contribute to children’s records through observation
Attend staff meetings and training sessions
Work alongside your assessor including attending all training required for completion of the formal qualification
Have ability to manage own time to complete required coursework in the given timeframe
Drive own development through active participation in appraisals, one to ones and requesting supervisions where required
Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers, taking a BOLD approach to stand out amongst competitors
To complete your Level 2 Qualification will take a minimum of 12 months and to complete your level 3 will take a minimum of 18 months
Use reflection to proactively take on board new ideas and initiatives including feedback to enhance own development

Experience Desirable:
Experience in any role, which includes face to face work directly with children, paid or voluntary
Experience working with babies either in a professional home base or early years provision
Qualifications Essential:
Willingness to undertake formal Level 2/3 Early Years qualification
Can demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills
Willingness to gain Functional Skills in Maths and English Level 1/2
Qualifications Desirable:
Full and relevant Level 1 (or above) Early Years qualification
A-C grade in Maths and English
First Aid or 12 hour Paediatric First Aid qualification

Ability to communicate clearly with both children and adults using a variety of techniques

Have the ability to reflect on and respond positively to direction to improve own performance. Know when to seek advice and support
Demonstrate a proactive approach and take responsibility for getting things done
Ability to self-manage, manage own time, be flexible, adaptable and embrace new ways of doing things
Demonstrate a good standard of literacy, numeracy and effective ICT skills
