Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary up to ÂŁ65K depending on experience

The role
Youâll sit alongside a passionate and talented multi-disciplinary experience design team, made up of user researchers, product designers, content designers and design operations, who are focused on creating the best digital experiences for Bupaâs customers in the UK.
Youâll be responsible for designing and shaping unique, customer-centric experiences from concept to launch within one of our product squads. Youâll work collaboratively in an agile environment alongside experience design peers to create positive experiences that are easy to use and solve the needs of Bupaâs customers. Growing a healthy partnership with your product owner, youâll be involved in the strategy to drive the productâs direction.
Working with our design leadership team, youâll line manage a group of Product Designers and provide mentorship and support to facilitate development, encourage growth and foster a culture of care and candour.
How youâll help us make health happen
Youâll be hands on across project work within your squad, involved in every stage of a user centred design process from Discovery to Launch.
Youâll provide direction and set the standard for user experience across products and services at Bupa to improve the customer experience.
Youâll mentor, coach, and inspire other members of the experience design team as a people manager, supporting the discipline lead of Product Design.
As an experienced voice of the customer and a UX leader youâll build advocacy amongst key stakeholders evangelising the principles, standards and processes of UX design.
You will lead playbacks, support in design crits and other communities of practice sessions to highlight your disciplineâs work, enable constructive feedback and elevate the quality of the craft.
Line management and all associated responsibilities
Helping to maintain and improve the inherent pillars of our teamâs culture; psychological safety, celebrating success, and learning from each other.
Advocacy for the adoption of the organisationâs Design System, âAnatomyâ and contribution to the community.
Confident mediation across the demands of a business, the needs of the customer and the feasibility of the tech stack to design the right thing and design the thing right.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed
Youâre a product designer who is passionate about designing great customer experiences across multiple products and services.
A deep and varied UX experience and comfortable across an end to end, double diamond process. You are confident conducting research and making sense of the insight, engage in creative exploration, prototype, test and validate your ideas and deliver a final design outcome.
A strong facilitator who can bring stakeholders together in a workshop, extract information and use to define a direction.
A champion of the customer throughout whilst staying in touch with the business requirements.
You set the standard for your peers and the organisation.
Established âdesign thinkerâ with empathy for user needs, a willingness to explore ideas and implement a âtest and learnâ approach before launch.
A great storyteller capable of influencing and encouraging stakeholders and peers to adopt and buy into something that was previously unfamiliar.
Accustomed to working in an FCA regulated business is a bonus.
Adept in managing complexity across multiple streams of work.
Knowledgeable across our toolkit that includes Figma and UserTesting.com
A champion for accessibility who acknowledges the needs of users with different backgrounds, abilities, cultures, and environments.
A motivator of peers and the ongoing progression of their craft, while identifying new ways to develop skills to keep up with marketplace, industry and technology trends.
