General Manager to lead and drive our muck away, construction, and recycling operations. Based at our Agecroft Depot, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing strategic leadership, covering everything from business development, sales, and customer service to transport and on-site operations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Leading commercial and operational activities to ensure top-notch performance
Pursuing growth opportunities across Wigan and Leeds
Managing contracts and ensuring strict compliance with all company and statutory policies
Bring your expertise and help us shape the future of our North operations
Strategic leadership
Provide leadership to the Depot, Recycling and Landfill teams
Manage direct reports using clearly outlined clear objectives, targets and performance measures which are reviewed regularly.
Business and resource planning
Develop annual operating plan and other business plans covering all aspects including sales, operations, and capex.
Ensure operational assets and people are in place to deliver agreed results and, where necessary, develop plans to improve business.
Affective management of 3rd party contracts
Oversee a resource plan to recruit, train and continuously develop adequate personnel for the business.
Contribute to continuous business process improvement through the adoption of best practice.
Business development
Actively manage / develop commercial relationships for new and existing customers.
Work closely within the Central aggregates, concrete and asphalt operational and commercial team to exploit all commercial opportunities.
Develop marketing plans to grow demand / market for the premium mineral
Seek opportunities to develop the business including product range, services provided, customer base and use of assets.
Operations / contract management
Achieve optimum production levels in line with commercial activity at the lowest operational cost.
Continually advance operational improvements to improve efficiency and productivity.
Oversee procedures that achieve the highest quality and customer service

Experience
Previous relevant business management experience.
Demonstrable operational experience managing both yard and transport activities
Demonstrable track record of business management in the recycling industry preferable with an independent business and not a construction materials business.
Strong commercial client focus with responsibility for business development and profit delivery.
Strong financial acumen.
Management/ Leadership Skills
Ability to operate at strategic management level
