As Assistant Miller you will provide operational assistance for the smooth and efficient operation of the REGEN plant, you will take plant samples, performing maintenance tasks, ensure that the plant and millhouse cleanliness is kept to the highest possible standards you will be required to deputise for the Miller and perform other tasks as detailed below.
Key accountabilities
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND FUNCTIONS:
All operations on site whilst on Duty
Health and Safety of self and others
Reporting of all Accidents, Near Hits and Incidents.
To ensure that all in-process testing is carried out at the frequency required.
To physically inspect the whole process routes continually during the shift to identify potential problems and workloads.
The clearance of unacceptable spillages of any material, identify and immediately effect preventative remedial work.
Assist with producing risk assessments, method statements and COSHH assessments.
To ensure that the control room and the plant cleanliness is maintained at all times.
Deputise for the Miller on shift
Operate the production processes ensuring that the Hanson Sustainability policy is adhered to.
Assist with the co-ordination of planned shutdowns ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out.
Carry out maintenance in accordance with the schedules.
To accurately record all information that is of relevance for production, maintenance, quality and environmental purposes. And to ensure that this information is communicated to the oncoming shift so that it is fully understood before you leave site.
To ensure that isolations and isolation procedures are accurately carried out.
Effective control and communications of personnel, sub contractors and suppliers.
Supervision of sub contract labour as required.
Working for other Hanson sites as required.
Any other duties which this position demands
AUTHORITY:
Shutting down the process when there is a risk to people, the environment and the plant
Altering plant parameters to ensure that quality standards and plant performance are met or to protect the equipment.
Shift personnel organisation and planning
COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Internal communication with all works personnel
External communication with customers, suppliers and emergency services.

Works Engineering dept for all maintenance requirements
Oncoming personnel for effective shift changeover
All staff under their control
PARTICIPATION IN REGULAR MEETINGS, COMMITTEES ETC:
Internal departmental meetings
H&S meetings
Internal and external training courses
Education/Qualification
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DEMAND:
Certified mobile plant driving licences (Loading Shovel, Forklift, Bobcat, other site specific plant)
Operational Knowledge of the REGEN plant processes and Utilities
Basic Mechanical maintenance skills and abilities
Working knowledge of Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
Electrical and Mechanical Isolation procedures
Finished product testing and interpretation of results
Supervisory and decision making skills
Ability to operate without supervision
Qualified first aider (site dependant)
