Are you passionate about making a positive difference to people’s health and wellbeing? Do you have experience in weight management, nutrition, or exercise referral? We’re looking for a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our Leisure Services team at North Yorkshire Council!
About the Role: As a Health and Wellbeing specialist, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering our Weight Management Programme, working with individuals to help them achieve long-term weight loss and improved health. Whether you’re leading in-person workshops, delivering virtual sessions, or working directly with clients on their health journeys, you’ll be at the forefront of helping our community live healthier lives.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver weight management services – Lead health assessments, create personalised goals and facilitate a variety of sessions tailored to client needs.
Support behaviour change – Help clients integrate healthy nutrition and physical activity into their daily routines, with the goal of achieving a healthier lifestyle.
Work with hard-to-reach groups – Engage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including younger adults, rural populations, and those with a BMI over 30.
Collaborate with partners – Build relationships with local businesses, healthcare professionals, and community groups to encourage participation and expand access to services.
Promote positive health changes – Organise workshops, provide ongoing support, and track progress to ensure clients achieve their goals.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in weight management, nutrition, or exercise referral
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage with individuals and deliver impactful presentations to groups.
Knowledge of behaviour change strategies and a client-centred approach to support long-term health improvements.
Strong organisational and IT skills, with a proactive and motivated attitude.
