HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management Alternatives (Private Credit) business for an Investment Director – Infrastructure Debt.

The role will focus approximately half of their time on originating, analysing and executing infrastructure debt investment opportunities, together with portfolio monitoring support related to handling of material, waivers/amendments/restructurings. The balance of the time will utilise working in partnership with the Private Credit Investment Specialists and the Sales teams, where the focus is on developing product materials, engaging in new client development, managing and growing direct partner client relationships, supporting fundraising efforts and helping to communicate the team’s investment strategies to the market.

In this role you will:

Originate and execute appropriate investment grade and non-investment grade Infrastructure Debt investments, this includes fund raising
Play a leading role in Infrastructure Debt fundraising activities and product development in co-operation with the Infrastructure Debt capability heads, Private Credit investment specialists and Sales teams, including preparation of marketing materials and presentations for prospective clients, responding to prospective client RfPs and due diligence questionnaires, and providing input on new product strategy, Infrastructure Debt market conditions and product documentation.
Support fundraising activities through the development of compelling client presentations and marketing collateral with particular emphasis on Direct Lending strategies.
Collaborate with various HSBC internal teams including Product Development, Legal, Risk and Investment Teams in order to support the development and launch of new Direct Lending products and initiatives.
Maintain and develop a strong origination network with banks, advisors, sponsors, borrowers, other investors and with HSBC banking affiliates (e.g. GBM, CMB, Innovation Banking) and other key stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging across all Private Credit strategies.
Present ‘Role Model’ behaviours and actively assist in the support and develop less experienced team members about the investment process and philosophy.
Be a role model and set high standards for performance and behaviour within the investment team.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

Relevant level of experience of investment grade and/or non-investment grade Infrastructure Debt lending/investing including Fund origination and execution in various sectors is essential for this role
Up-to-date knowledge of global Infrastructure Debt markets including the Institutional investor landscape and other drivers that effect investment decisions is essential
Strong experience of leading investment due diligence, modelling and credit assessment, including handling material post-trade waivers/consents is essential for this role
Possess very strong stakeholder management skills that engenders a ‘Trusted Advisor’ status within a varied and complex stakeholder group that spans multiple cultures and geographies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with evidence of preparing and delivering presentations.
Extremely well organised and takes a pragmatic approach to dealing with demands on your time and managing tasks with conflicting priorities
