Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people?

Reed Education is working in partnership with a thriving and inclusive specialist school in Leeds to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a long-term opportunity starting in September 2025, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

About the School:

Located in a leafy suburb of North Leeds, this forward-thinking school caters to pupils aged 7-16 with a range of SEMH needs. The school prides itself on its trauma-informed approach, small class sizes, and a strong emphasis on emotional literacy, resilience, and positive relationships.

Staff are supported by a highly experienced leadership team, in-house therapists, and regular CPD opportunities. The school has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a strong sense of community.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis, helping them to regulate emotions and engage in learning.
  • Building trusting relationships with students who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education.
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement behaviour support plans.
  • Promoting a calm, safe, and structured learning environment.
  • Encouraging social skills, self-esteem, and independence.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs.
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Team Teach or similar de-escalation training is desirable (but not essential – training can be provided).

Why Join Through Reed Education?

  • A dedicated consultant to support you throughout your placement.
  • Access to free CPD and training opportunities.
  • Competitive daily pay and weekly payroll.
  • Opportunities for permanent roles in supportive schools.
