A well-established company in St Albans are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join its growing finance team. This role provides variety and responsibility across core accounting functions, with opportunities to support broader financial reporting and operational decision-making, this role would suit something who is looking to continue their growth within finance and previously been in a finance role for 2/3 years.
Role: Assistant Accountant
Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire
Hybrid: Yes
Salary: £33,000 – £35,000 (DOE) Study support offered
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the divisional cash book, post transactions, and complete monthly bank reconciliations
- Raise Sales Contracts and Sales Ledger invoices
- Prepare monthly Sales and Cost of Sales journals
- Perform monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Assist in preparing the monthly Board Pack and Management Pack
- Complete monthly VAT returns and ensure compliance
- Post and reconcile Inter-company balances
- Process ad-hoc manual payments as required
- Collaborate with managers to resolve ledger queries and invoice issues
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong in Excel.
- 2-3 years prior experience in an accounts role
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to approach problem-solving with a positive mindset.
