Customer Contact Advisor

- Pay: £14.36 per hour PAYE
- Working Hours: 8:45am till 5pm
We are seeking a Customer Contact Advisor to join Bury Council on a temporary basis. The role involves handling enquiries through various channels including telephone, face-to-face, and digital platforms. The successful candidate will provide a high-quality, efficient, and courteous service, resolving queries at the first point of contact in line with Government Legislation and council policies.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Handle enquiries efficiently, providing advice and guidance within specific legislation.
- Assess customer eligibility for services, discounts, and benefits.
- Use active listening and effective questioning skills to de-escalate potential complaints.
- Promote the use and benefits of the council’s website, self-account, and online forms.
- Ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, Freedom of Information Act, and the Council’s confidentiality requirements.
- Meet service performance targets and maintain high standards of customer service in accordance with the Council’s Corporate Customer Care Charter.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a customer service role, preferably in a similar setting.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and use own initiative.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to resolve queries effectively.
- Proficient in using various systems to retrieve and update information.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including GDPR and Freedom of Information Act.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
