Afterschool & Holiday Club Team – Multiple Roles (Colchester)

Growing Leaders Nursery & After-School Club is a new childcare provision in Colchester, currently awaiting registration with Ofsted.

We are building a strong, reliable team ahead of opening, with roles commencing once registration is approved.

Available Roles

• Afterschool Playworker (Level 2+) – Part-Time
• Senior Practitioner / Room Lead (Level 3+) – Full-Time
• Club Assistant (Entry Level) – Part-Time / Flexible

What the Role Will Involve

Once open, the setting will provide afterschool and holiday club care, including:

• School collections from:St John’s Green Primary School (Abbey Field site)
• St John’s Green Primary School (Town site)
• Hamilton Primary School
• Safe escorting of children from school to the setting
• Supervising children during afterschool sessions and holiday clubs
• Supporting:
• Homework time
• Structured activities
• Free play
• Preparing and supervising snack time (allergy aware)
• Maintaining a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment
• Following all safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Completing daily records:
• Attendance registers
• Accident and incident logs

Senior Practitioner Responsibilities (Level 3+)

• Leading daily operations and staff on shift
• Managing staff ratios and group organisation
• Planning weekly activities in line with EYFS
• Acting as a key contact for parents
• Supporting compliance and readiness in line with Ofsted expectations

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working with children (school, nursery, or club setting)
• Reliable and punctual (essential for school collection roles)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
• Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification (where applicable)

Pay & Hours

• £11.44 – £13 per hour (depending on experience)
• Up to £14 per hour for Senior Practitioner (full-time role)
• Part-time roles:
• Afterschool hours (approx. 2:30pm – 6:30pm)
• Holiday club shifts available
• Full-time role:
• Across afterschool, holiday club, and nursery preparation

Start Date

• Roles will commence upon Ofsted registration approval
• Prior to this:
• Interviews
• DBS checks
• Induction and training
