A well-established law firm is seeking a proactive and organised Family Paralegal to join its busy and supportive Family Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with at least 12 months’ family law experience who is looking to further develop their career within a respected firm that values progression, training and long-term development.
The Role
Working closely with experienced Family Solicitors, you will assist with a varied caseload of family law matters, providing essential support to ensure clients receive a high standard of service. This role offers hands-on exposure to a broad range of family work and would suit someone looking to build a long-term career in family law.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Family Solicitors with a varied caseload of family law matters, including:
- Divorce and separation
- Financial remedy matters
- Private Children Act proceedings
- Domestic abuse and injunction applications
- Public law matters, including conferences and LAC reviews
- Legal Aid and privately funded cases
- Draft legal documents, correspondence, court applications and witness statements
- Liaise with clients, courts, barristers, experts and third parties
- Prepare court bundles and ensure files are maintained accurately and efficiently
- Conduct legal research and assist with case preparation
- Manage appointments, diaries and client communications
- Support Solicitors with billing procedures and file management
- Ensure compliance with firm procedures, regulatory requirements and Legal Aid processes where applicable
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 12 months’ experience within a Family Law department
- Previous experience supporting Solicitors on family law matters
- Understanding of family law processes, including divorce, children matters and injunction work
- Experience assisting with Legal Aid matters would be advantageous
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Professional, client-focused and team-oriented approach
- A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within family law
