This open civil service announcement is for application from the general public for all hospitals within The Ohio State University Medical Center: University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, University Hospital East, Harding Hospital, Corporate Shared Services, and the College of Medicine. Scope of Position
The Unit Clerical Associate (UCA) functions as an integral member of a team of care providers on a patient care unit, who reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team, consisting of the Patient Care Coordinator (PCC), the Patient Care Associate (PCA), the Patient Services Associate (PSA) and the Unit Clerical Associate (UCA) provides patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care, improving services levels, reducing the length of hospitalization and decreasing costs. Patients and their family will experience the benefits of patient focus care through the integrated skills of all care team members. The Ohio State University Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive.
Position Summary
The UCA is responsible for coordinating/gathering all documentation related to the patient chart. They provide variety of clerical support services under the direction of the PCC, who is a registered nurse, and in collaboration with other members of the patient focused care team. Overall responsibilities include processing of orders, verification of forms for accuracy and completeness and dissemination of information on the unit.

Applying to this position will mean that you would be considered for a Unit Clerical Associate position throughout all of the Medical Center. This includes but is not limited to the University Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, Harding Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, East Hospital, Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital and Brain and Spine Hospital.
Ability to calculate fractions, decimals and percentages and to read and write common vocabulary and medical terminology plus: 1 month experience or 1 course in office practices and procedures; 1 month experience or 1 course in public relations; 1 month experience or 1-course in data entry or typing. Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen and background check
