Aerospace Engineering Site Manager
Job Description
The Aerospace Engineering Site Manager will oversee all design, sustaining and manufacturing engineering activities of our Rotating Machines, Distribution Components and Conversion branches. This individual will be based at our local Sarasota, FL facility and will act as the local Power Americas Engineering Director deputy. The Aerospace Engineering Site Manager will manage a team of managers and individual contributors for a whole team totaling up to 50 individuals. The position will require strong and constructive coordination with other departments such as quality, operations, programs, supply chain.
• Provide leadership and motivation in managing the site engineering teams to insure best performance, retention and skills development from all within the group
• Ensure business support directly or from the engineering team and production support both locally in Sarasota, FL and in Chihuahua, Mexico
• Interface with other departments to support the short to long-term goals of the Sarasota, FL site but also the overall Power Americas objectives
• Participate actively in the resource planning, recruitment, training and mentoring of multi-disciplined individuals including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, PCB design engineers, etc.
• Monitor and report to the management the Key Performance Indicators of the engineering team including but not limited to OTD, OQD, DOD, financials and provide corrective action as necessary
• Participate in developing strong customer relationships to support gaining market credibility and route-to-market
• Identify technology gaps and create a Technology or Product Roadmap that will deliver differentiated product characteristics
• Provide technical oversight and design assurance of all activities to ensure high quality of Engineering, safe products and adherence to the industry and SAFRAN’s standards and processes
• Work effectively with other functional groups (programs, test lab, supply chain, business development, quality, etc.) to achieve program milestones and other division goal
• Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program
• Travel requirements: 0-10% Domestic and International

Job Requirements
Required Education and/or Experience
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
• A minimum of ten (10) years engineering experience in a design development and manufacturing environment.
• A minimum of five (5) years of management experience in the aerospace or similar technical industry
Required Knowledge/Skills
• Demonstrated high level of ability, leadership, motivation and aptitude.
• Ability to provide clear direction and delegation
• Solid technical judgement with special emphasize on electro-mechanical technologies
• Demonstrated problem solving skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with individuals/teams at all levels within the organization and with customers
• Strong organizational, administrative and reporting skills
Preferred Skills :
• Master’s Degree in Engineering or MBA
• Knowledge on various aspects of aerospace electrical systems
• Knowledge and experience with MIL standards, group testing, DLA, NAVAIR
• Knowledge and experience with military standards
• Understanding of aerospace regulations: EASA, FAA, CFR Part(s) 23 and 25
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Oversee daily engineering activities
• Lead a team of managers and individual contributors of up to 50 team members total
• Budget responsibility for the engineering department
