Job Description

Do you want to support an academy near you? We are looking for a Midday Meals Supervisor to join our team at Harris Academy Wimbledon, securing the safety, welfare and good conduct of students during the lunchtime break period.
About Us
Harris Academy Wimbledon are an ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted 2023) secondary academy, established in 2018 to provide an excellent education for children in Wimbledon. With our new Sixth Form that opened last year, we will soon have a full cohort of students aged 11-18.

Two years after opening, we moved into our brand-new building which is modern, bright and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in every area of the curriculum. We are oversubscribed and fortunate to have an amazing level of support from the community with waiting lists for entry into every year group of our academy.

Main Areas of Responsibility
Your main responsibilities will include:

Undertaking direct supervision of students in designated areas, ensuring safe and orderly conduct.
Assisting with daily decisions on areas for student use
Supporting the safe use of equipment.
Supporting and supervising students in the dining area as appropriate
Supporting students who may require assistance.
Dealing with minor incidents and first aid where appropriate, referring serious incidents to Senior Lunchtime Coordinator/Principal or nominated supervisor
Cleaning up spillages or debris around the dining/play areas to ensure the maintenance of good order, discipline and safety
Qualifications & Experience
We would like to hear from you if you have:

Understanding of the educational, social and welfare needs of pupils in the midday break
Understanding of the importance of the meal and break as a social and educational occasion
Experience of supervising pupils (individuals or groups) in a relevant age setting
Good spoken and written English
Ability to encourage and inspire young people
Good organisational skills
Ability to work effectively with people across a wide range of levels and responsibilities
Ability to judge when advice/assistance is needed to meet pupil’s needs
Ability to liaise with parents/carers in a professional manner observing the boundaries of the role and respecting confidential information
