The Catering and Events Department of the Property Division at Imperial College London operates various cafés, restaurants, bars and events located within the South Kensington, Hammersmith, White City and North Acton Campuses. The department aims to provide affordable and high-quality food and services for the Imperial community – https://www.imperial.ac.uk/events-and-hospitality/catering/.

We are looking for a talented individual to support the Catering and Events Operations Manager to ensure excellent day-to-day operational practice and provide effective line management in our brand-new bar and restaurant at the White City campus.
In this role you would be managing the Catering and Bar Operations in accordance with health and hygiene legislation, and Imperial/departmental procedures and ensuring the customer experience of Catering services is provided in an effective and efficient manner.
The post holder is also responsible for making sure that the Catering and Events Teams remain aligned to the Imperial Values and Behaviours framework and competent in safe working practices, in accordance with departmental procedures. You will also be responsible to oversee those direct reports comply with Imperial policies, health and hygiene legislation in all catering operations.
The ideal person will have worked in a multi-site catering operation as a general manager or assistant manager and possess excellent people management skills. Customer service skills are essential, and you should have a good understanding of food hygiene, and licencing legislation. Please note that the post is offered on a 5/7 day contract and will require flexibility with regard to working hours, including working evenings and weekends and working across all outlets across all Imperial Campuses, to meet business needs.

Duties and responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
To manage and motivate team members, creating and reviewing individual performance/training frameworks and annual staff appraisals in accordance with departmental goals and personal development needs
To ensure stock control / taking is conducted monthly in each area in accordance with the Campus Services Financial guidelines
To support the Supervisors to ensure staff resources are used efficiently and in line with set financial parameters
To support the Supervisors to identify and implement changes in customer service and product offers to maximise revenue
To monitor and support the requirement for the outlet teams to conduct all their working practices in accordance with the Food Hygiene, Health and Safety legislation, the Colleges financial regulations and fire procedures and the Catering and Events department policies
Essential requirements
Previous experience of managing a team, with proven ability to train, develop, motivate and lead team members
Previous experience in a fast paced bar/restaurant environment
Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate
Personal Licence Holder
Sound numerical skills, in order to plan and analyse financial data and interpret budgetary information to ensure compliance with financial constraints
Passion for delivering high quality customer service at all times
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, to present and deliver information in an appropriate manner
Ability to use own initiative and prioritise activities, to deal with problems which may hinder the delivery of an effective service
Excellent organisational and time management skills, to deliver an efficient and effective service
Good IT skills in order to operate a computerised stock ordering system (ideally experience of Procure Wizard)
