About the role
The Early Years Education Centre is an Ofsted rated outstanding nursery that provides quality care for 210 children between the ages of 6 months to 5 years. We serve the community of Imperial College London’s staff and students. Our spacious and stimulating rooms as well as eco-friendly garden are designed to provide an excellent environment for children to thrive and learn in, thus allowing them to reach their full potential.

We are looking for an experienced Administrator who will support the Departmental Finance Administrator and provide a day-to-day professional, administrative support service for users of the EYEC. This role is permanent and working on-site full time in a Nursery environment.

Safeguarding children is our priority and all post holders are required to adhere to the EYEC’s Safeguarding Children and Whistle Blowing Policy. All post holders must obtain a satisfactory enhanced level Disclosure and Barring check.

 

What you would be doing
You will be responsible for the general office administration including managing promptly the enquiries to the central administration email account, maintenance of electronic filing systems and database records, producing letters, photocopying, ordering of stationery and compiling data and distributing as required.

The role will support the EYEC Management Team and Line Manager in the smooth running of the EYEC in all daily matters.

You will be responsible for coordinating and booking defects and maintenance and following these up. The role also involves working closely with, and providing advice, solutions to queries, and support to staff and parents, which requires flexibility and differing needs.

 

What we are looking for
Proven previous administrative experience or relevant vocational qualification
Excellent spoken and written knowledge of the English language
Experience of using databases to store, manipulate and retrieve information
Possess a high level of accuracy and consistent attention to detail
Excellent organisational and time management skills and be able to plan and prioritise tasks effectively
Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a pleasant, outgoing manner
Sound and accurate IT skills (Word, Outlook, Excel and spreadsheets)
Respect for confidentiality, including the integrity and sensitivity of records and awareness of data protection guidelines
To work collaboratively towards the aims of the Centre and its policies and procedures
Ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide range of staff and external visitors from various disciplines and backgrounds
Ability to empathise with, and possess an understanding approach towards, the needs of parents
Ability to work flexibly, cooperatively, and independently using initiative and learn new skills quickly
Ability to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children
