About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Duty Manager to join the Move Imperial Team in their state-of-the-art sports facility, Ethos, based in the heart of South Kensington. This facility serves Imperial students and staff as well the local community and includes a sports hall, climbing wall, swimming pool, squash courts, state-of-the-art-fitness gym, exercise studio and sports therapy rooms.

This is a customer facing role, and as such the successful applicant must be ready to communicate with a diverse range of customers and demonstrate a strong commitment towards ensuring excellence in customer service and enhancing the customer experience and ensuring that all areas work in accordance with Departmental and Imperial requirements and agreed standards.

Please note this post is offered on a 5 out of 7 day contract and will require flexibility regarding work patterns. Shift patterns will comprise, early, mid, and late shifts. The earliest start is 06:30 and the latest a shift will finish is 22:30. The Ethos operating hours are: 07:00 – 22:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 – 20:00 Saturday and Sunday.

 

What you would be doing
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Ethos including effective leadership, management and support of Recreation Assistants and Gym staff; supporting the management of the pool plant room operations, ensuring regular maintenance tasks and checks are undertaken according to set schedules; be responsible for the Health and Safety of all staff and users of the facility; and ensure that the highest standard of customer service is always delivered.

The successful applicant will have knowledge and previous experience of working in an operational capacity in the leisure industry, where they will be able to hit the ground running to provide this essential cover.

Proven experience in managing sports facilities/activities
Proven experience in managing people and staff
Understanding of Equal Opportunities within the context of a student leisure environment
Knowledge of swimming pool and plant room operations
Knowledge of health and safety legislation
Understanding of providing excellent customer service and care
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work on own initiative
Be well presented
Be flexible and prepared to work unsocial hours if required
