About the role
The Centre for Innovation in Sustainable Design and Manufacturing (ISDM) is seeking a manager to proactively support the day-to-day activities and liaison with the major industrial partner, Tata Steel Limited. Offering operational management for the centre, the postholder will work closely with our Industrial Partnerships and Commercialisation Team (IPC) to coordinate and promote the use of our facilities for the advancement of the Centre goals.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to pursue a career in project and/or Academic centre management and will support scientific advancements in improving sustainability in manufacturing processes in industry.

 

What you would be doing
Based in the Metal Forming Research group, you will interact with Academics and Researchers dedicated to improving design and manufacturing processes for global industries.

You are the primary contact for the centre’s partners and external stakeholders.
You support the coordination of the ISDM Centre’s activities, ensuring that they meet their deliverables, with the goal of ensuring long-term sustainability of the centre.
You will build and nurture relationships with key industrial stakeholders, organising events and developing a marketing strategy for the centre to engage and utilize research partners.
You’re ensuring that the centres day-to-day administration runs smoothly and efficiently, working with the Department’s Research & Finance team as needed.
What we are looking for
You have experience in project management, including influencing the outputs of deliverables.

You’ve got demonstrable experience of engaging with external stakeholders and suppliers, working effectively with individuals from different backgrounds and levels of seniority.
You have experience managing budgets and finances on projects.
Experience working in a similar role in an Academic environment would be considered an advantage but is not essential.
