About the role
Imperial College London is inviting applications for a maternity cover position as Deputy Director of Undergraduate Primary Care Education in its multi award-winning Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit within the School of Public Health and Faculty of Medicine. The position is available on a part-time basis at 0.8 FTE for a fixed term period of 12 months.

 

What you would be doing
Contributing to the development of the strategic direction of Undergraduate General Practice placements and to support the Director for Undergraduate Primary Care Education in the following roles:

Teaching and Training: Take an active part in face-to-face teaching at undergraduate level. Work closely with the Faculty Development Lead and Faculty Development Manager to ensure recruitment and retention of community teachers for all the undergraduate primary care placements.
Staff Management: Support the Director in managing the team responsible for undergraduate primary care education, including clinical, academic and administrative staff. This includes working with the Director to oversee undergraduate teaching, course design and innovation, evaluation and research, curriculum development and education management, with specific responsibility and line management of Undergraduate GP Placement leads in Phase 3.
Strategy and Business Planning: Work with the Director to set the strategic vision and priorities for the Unit. Keep abreast of current trends in medical education and political drivers that relate to the Unit’s priorities.
Leadership and Team Working: Attend relevant committee meetings and deputise at key meetings for the Director where requested. Work with the Director to develop the education research output and scholarly activity of the team through publication and conference presentation. Work with the Director to represent the Undergraduate Primary Care Education programme in the Faculty of Medicine, across the University and externally.
Management and Administrative Duties: Work closely with the Director and Education Manager to oversee placement development and management.

 

What we are looking for
Evidence of educational research experience, evaluation of teaching, applied critical reasoning and peer-reviewed publication.
Significant experience of working in General Practice
Significant clinical experience to provide authoritative clinical leadership
Significant experience in teaching and medical education curriculum planning at the undergraduate level.
Experience of working as an educator in a university setting
Extensive experience of developing and managing undergraduate teaching programmes
Interest in undergraduate medical education and commitment to general practice as a focus and setting for undergraduate learning.
