The DWP Sustainability Manager will be tasked in meeting broader sustainability ambitions and reporting requirements.

Job Description
The Sustainability Manager is a pivotal new role, designed to lead a team of sustainability professionals in supporting a newly acquired client to meet their ambitious environmental goals.

Embedded within the client account, the manager will oversee sustainability initiatives across a large estate in England, Scotland, and Wales.

Key responsibilities include managing mobilisation and transition plans ahead of the account’s ‘Go Live’ in October 2025 and transitioning into an active role in delivering sustainability milestones thereafter.

This position is ideal for individuals eager to drive meaningful environmental change within a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Work with the Operations Performance Sustainability team to build the Sustainability Management System including core documents (Sustainability Improvement plan, carbon reduction plan, biodiversity net gain)
Design reporting and assurance processes around sustainability, including supporting other departments with their objectives
Work with the wider Operations Performance team to develop site environmental risk and priorities – collate site data and undertake site visits as required
Support in developing training material and assist in delivery of eLearning / Webinars associated with sustainability contract procedures
Meeting and Network groups – support action management
Ensure training material is up to date and available
Develop long term trusted relationships across ISS, customer and other stakeholders
Recruitment of other new roles required for the delivery of the sustainability contract
Work with the ISS transition team to achieve critical milestones relating to sustainability through the mobilisation period
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Degree qualified in a relevant scientific, engineering or energy/environmental discipline
Masters qualification desirable
Membership of a recognised professional institute or equivalent, with Chartered status an advantage
A minimum of seven years proven experience in sustainability
Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
Collaboration and focus led individual
Strategy development
People person, easy to engage with
Customer focus, stakeholder management
Live and breathe sustainability and a desire to effect change
Highly skilled in Excel
Good communicator / Relationship building / Data analysis experience
