Job Description

Changing the world one child at a time: A career like no other

We’re the London Early Years Foundation, also known as LEYF; a family of 40 nurseries in London. As a charitable social enterprise, we’re leading change in Early Years, ensuring equal education and care for all children to give them the best start in life. 27% of our children are on funded-only places, with 75% of our nurseries in some of the most deprived areas of London, meaning you have the chance to make the biggest impact by working with us. 100% of our nurseries are Ofsted-rated Outstanding or Good, an achievement that’s down to the brilliance of our wonderful teachers.

If you’re currently or have previously been a Nursery Deputy Manager we have the chance for you to join our Farrance Road Nursery. This is a maternity cover role, however most of our maternity cover roles allow for you to join a permanent position after the contract in one of our nurseries.

Ofsted-rated Good, Farrance Road Nursery & Pre-School provides Early Years Education and Care to children from birth to 5 years old. You can find us in Chadwell Heath at 1 Farrance Rd, Dagenham, Romford RM6 6EB, not far from Chadwell Heath railway station. We’re a large, modern nursery, with separate rooms for different age groups and a garden for outdoor play. Our baby room is equipped with a gym and sensory area.

Why choose LEYF?

We’ve been around for a long time, 121 years to be precise, but we’re always evolving, and you could evolve with us.

The best education is delivered by an amazing team of Teachers and Managers, and so we provide top training and development through our London Institute of Early Years to deepen your knowledge and practice.

We also provide a range of benefits to support you while employed with us:

A starting salary of £33,995 for full time, 40 hours per week over 5 days, Monday to Friday
Generous pension to prepare for your future – We contribute 7% while you only contribute 1%!
70% discount on childcare fees for your little one at a LEYF nursery
Up to 35 days annual leave per year, including 8 bank holidays, 3 days off between Christmas and New Year, and your birthday off
Sector-leading parental leave
Free Wellbeing app
Shopping discounts
Team celebrations in your nursery
Annual company conference – a fun and informative whole company event
What we look for in our Deputy Managers

Each nursery shares LEYF’s unique teaching model but you will have the freedom to be creative to suit how the children learn best. You’ll be involved in planning and creating engaging activities, building parent relationships and maintaining best practice amongst the whole nursery team. You’ll also support the Nursery Manager with finances, staffing, health and safety, team management and the general running of the nursery while maintaining and continually improving the quality of education provided.

Our values underpin our work. The LEYF 4 core values are INSPIRING, BRAVE, NURTURING and FUN and we can’t wait to see how you grow and evolve your LEYF nursery with our values guiding your actions.

You’ll hold a Level 3 or above childcare qualification that is full and relevant for the Early Years sector and have some Nursery Deputy Manager experience. If you’re an experienced Room Leader ready for the leap into nursery management, we invite you to apply. You’ll also need to hold the right to work in the UK to join us.

As part of the recruitment process, we’ll be looking for evidence of your ability to protect and safeguard children in your care and for you to showcase your knowledgeable, passionate and imaginative approach to providing high quality Early Years education and strong leadership skills.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to receive your application! Once applied, you can expect one of our friendly Recruiters to give you a call for a quick chat and to book in an interview. Our recruitment process is fast so you can expect to hear from us within 1-2 days of applying. You can reach us on [email protected] if you have any questions about being a Nursery Deputy Manager at LEYF.
