Job Description

Changing the world one child at a time: A career like no other

We’re the London Early Years Foundation, also known as LEYF; a family of 40 nurseries in London. With our charitable social enterprise model, we’re leading change in Early Years, ensuring equal education and care for all children to give them the best start in life. 27% of our children are on funded-only places, with 75% of our nurseries in some of the most deprived areas of London, meaning you have the chance to make the biggest impact by working with us. 100% of our nurseries are Ofsted-rated Outstanding or Good, an achievement that’s down to the brilliance of our wonderful Teachers.

Are you a current or previously were a Nursery Manager looking to make an even bigger impact on children’s lives? If so, we have the chance for you to join LEYF.

We’re proud of our Old Kent Road Nursery, rated Outstanding by Ofsted, with a great team. Current Manager Chelsea says, “My nursery is special because we cater for everyone and constantly look at ways we can improve, to ensure we put children at the heart of everything we do.”

You can find us in Peckham, close to South Bermondsey station at 616 Old Kent Rd, London SE15 1JB. We’re lucky to have not 1 but 2 gardens at our nursery, perfect for outdoor learning. There are great connections within the local community for you to build upon.

Up to 35 days annual leave per year, including 8 bank holidays, 3 days off between Christmas and New Year, and your birthday off

What we look for in our Nursery Managers

Each nursery shares LEYF’s unique teaching model that you’ll follow in your nursery, but you’ll have the freedom to lead your way. You’ll motivate and engage your team to provide high quality care and education to all children that come through the door. Although we have 40 nurseries, you’ll also have a smaller network of 5-7 nurseries with an Area Operations Manager to support you and our Central Office team are there to back you.

As Nursery Manager you’ll be responsible for your nursery’s finances, staffing levels, health and safety, and safeguarding. You’ll be instrumental in building parent partnerships and will instill a culture of inclusivity within your team. You’ll increase occupancy levels by building a reputation in your local community and leading tours and open days.

You won’t just inspire outstanding practice in your own nursery. As part of the LEYF Manager community you’ll come together with your peers to contribute your ideas and learning, ensuring consistent high quality across our settings. Our values underpin our work. The LEYF 4 core values are INSPIRING, BRAVE, NURTURING and FUN and we can’t wait to see how you grow and evolve your LEYF nursery with these values guiding your actions.

You’ll hold a Level 3 or above childcare qualification that is full and relevant for the Early Years sector and have strong leadership experience, showing alignment with our values and pedagogy. You’ll also need to hold the right to work in the UK. If you’re an experienced Nursery Manager ready for your next career move, we’d love to hear from you.
