The Learning Disability Helpline and advice service in England require an experienced caseworker to focus on our priority enquiries.
A priority enquiry is one where a person is at risk of harm right now, or a situation that they are reporting to us may become a risk of harm if not resolved.
This Caseworker role will include regular adult safeguarding, and occasional child safeguarding including submitting alerts and following up on them.
The Caseworker role will be a full time (37.5 hours per week), on a fixed term contract until March 2025. We are flexible as to where you do your work, but there will be occasional visits to our Peterborough office.
Essential skills and experience to be a Caseworker:
Experience of delivering multi-channel advice to people with a learning disability, or other under-represented groups
Experience of making decisions and taking action, and in challenging statutory authorities when decisions are not being made or implemented
Experience of dealing confidently with complex cases
Experience of identifying and submitting safeguarding alerts to statutory authorities, including challenging the outcome when needed
Robust understanding of data protection and confidentiality
Experience using a CRM system and Microsoft Teams to give advice and keep accurate case records
Desirable skills and knowledge for a Caseworker include:
Underlying knowledge of health and social care functions
Experience in safeguarding adults using homelessness legislation
Experience in dealing with neglect and abuse within social care settings
