Job summary:
Manage school holiday play schemes and Saturday clubs and at home provision or similar short breaks throughout the year in designated locations for children/young people with moderate to severe learning disabilities.
• Support the Service manager in ensuring the smooth delivery and provision of the services that we provide and that they are fully compliant with SNAP/St Albans MENCAP’s health and safety and statutory duties.
Key responsibilities
1. SNAP service delivery – Organise, develop and maintain effective play schemes and clubs, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for the children and overseeing there day to day running.
2. Ensure the smooth delivery of the services that we provide and that they are fully compliant with SNAP/St Albans MENCAP’s health and safety and statutory duties.
3. Help advertise and assist in recruiting play workers/leaders/apprentices, and promote professional and public awareness of the schemes.
4. Where required provide medical and/or personal care for children/young people attending play schemes and clubs.
5. Deal with and following up any complaints raised by parents/carers, staff or other professionals.
6. Contacting parents/carers to arrange home/school visits to risk assess child prior to them attending Playscheme.
7. Developing the provision of CQC registered domiciliary services.
Person specifications
• Diplomatic and tactful with excellent interpersonal skills
• Good written and verbal communications skills and competency in using basic software packages.
• Methodical and organised with ability to prioritise and delegate.
• Commitment to the overall aims and objectives of SNAP/St Albans Mencap and its development
• Self-motivation, Flexibility and Enthusiasm to work in a small charitable organisation.
Key experience
• Demonstrable ability to work with learning disabled of all ages and to be able to liaise with the families and other stakeholders of the people we support.
• Ability to manage people, grow a team and motivate individuals.
• Understanding of health and safety and compliance with statutory duties in delivering services.
Desirable experience
• Knowledge and understanding of working with a local charity delivering services locally.
• Working at a responsible level in the charity sector
Other
• Some out of hours work and regular Saturday work may be required.
• Driving licence and access to transport a prerequisite.
• Home working and flexible working around core hours may be possible.
