Front of House / Receptionist – Temporary Ad-Hoc Cover
?? Location: Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne
?? Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour
?? Working Hours: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (22.5 hours per week)
?? Contract: Temporary Ad-Hoc Cover (on-site)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a professional, reliable, and personable Front of House Receptionist to provide ad-hoc cover for a prestigious law firm based in Newcastle. As the first point of contact for clients and visitors, your role is vital in delivering a high-quality experience and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome all clients and visitors in a warm, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Answer, screen, and redirect incoming calls to appropriate departments or personnel.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, couriers, and deliveries.
  • Maintain a tidy, well-presented reception area at all times.
  • Coordinate and manage meeting room bookings and assist with room preparation when required.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, document formatting, scanning, and filing.
  • Liaise with building management or facilities teams when necessary.
  • Support fee earners and wider team with ad-hoc administrative requests.
  • Monitor visitor logs and uphold office security procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion, particularly when handling sensitive legal documents or client information.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a receptionist or front-of-house position, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive or high-pressure situations calmly and professionally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office systems.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting a busy team.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of professionalism and discretion.
