About the team:
The Human Factors team forms part of our major accident hazard safety business, working predominantly in the nuclear sector. We successfully provide Human Factors design and safety case support to ensure that the role of the operator is fully considered and potential for human error minimised.
We have led the Human Factors support to several high-profile nuclear projects, including a major new build to process and repackage fuel within gloveboxes, and provided Human Factors assessments for decommissioning sites and operational facilities. We also have recently developed safety critical task analysis guidance and undertaken Human Factors assessments for control of major accident hazards (COMAH) sites. We are keen to make the most of opportunities to collaborate with our colleagues in the Health, Safety and Risk team and increase our Human Factors work in sectors outside of our nuclear clients, such as chemical/pharmaceutical, defence, oil & gas, aviation, rail and maritime clients.
Typical projects involve providing tailored Human Factors solutions on the design and operation of a range of topics, such as: control rooms, interface and equipment, layout and workspace, environment, alarm, competency management and procedures. We work remotely, in our RPS offices, at client offices and through site visits, providing an engaging and varied work experience.
