Job Purpose

The Proposals Engineer plays a key role in developing and reviewing technical and commercial proposals in response to tenders, ensuring they align with profitability targets and deadlines.

Main Responsibilities

Understand the company’s product portfolio to provide technically accurate solutions that meet client requirements and specifications.
Review technical proposal requirements, analyse project specifications, and develop appropriate technical solutions within tight deadlines.
Collaborate with senior project engineers, directors, and various departments (e.g., project management, finance, legal) to gather necessary inputs.
Support proposal and contract negotiations alongside the Director.
Lead technical proposal discussions, ensuring risks and responsibilities are clearly defined.
Obtain cost estimates for materials, consumables, and subcontracted work to develop proposals.
Maintain financial diligence by executing budget control to meet profitability targets.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures when compiling documentation.
Address client technical clarifications and attend clarification meetings when necessary.
Provide after-sales support to maintain strong customer relationships.
Adhere to Subsea Energy Solutions’ Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Policies and company guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned by directors or management.

Key Skills & Requirements

Degree/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, supported by relevant work experience. Alternative qualifications may be considered.
Experience in proposals or sales, ideally within the oil, gas, or renewable energy sectors.
Understanding of SURF (Subsea Umbilical’s, Risers, and Flowlines) is advantageous.
Strong sales, negotiation, and commercial awareness with a track record in proposal preparation and presentations.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Engineering drawing/drafting experience (SolidWorks) is beneficial but not essential.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining and fabrication, is an advantage.
Ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Self-motivated with strong decision-making abilities and a flexible approach to work.
Highly proficient in computer applications.
UK Full Driving Licence required.
Must be able to work from the company headquarters in Catterick.
