Who are we?

The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is the region’s economic development delivery organisation.

From April 2026, we will lead the delivery of regionally commissioned economic development activity aligned to the West Midlands Growth Plan, working in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority and local authorities.

The Role

As our new Regional Talent Liaison Executive, you’ll act as a vital link between employers, training providers, local authorities and regional partners, helping businesses access the talent, skills and workforce solutions they need.

Working closely with WMGC’s business-facing teams and the West Midlands Combined Authority, you’ll identify employer workforce requirements, connect organisations with training and employment support, and provide insights that help shape regional skills priorities.

You’ll Be Involved In:

  • Supporting businesses with skills, recruitment and workforce development needs.
  • Connecting employers to training, apprenticeships and employment support programmes.
  • Building strong partnerships with regional stakeholders and skills providers.
  • Supporting workforce initiatives that drive economic growth and inclusive employment.
  • Gathering employer insights to inform regional skills and talent strategies.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Engaging with employers to understand workforce and recruitment challenges.
  • Linking businesses to relevant skills, training and employment programmes.
  • Supporting investment and business growth projects with tailored talent solutions.
  • Managing employer engagement activity and maintaining CRM records.
  • Working collaboratively with WMCA, local authorities, providers and partner organisations.
  • Monitoring outcomes and sharing employer insights to support regional planning.
  • Promoting workforce development opportunities and regional skills initiatives.
  • Representing WMGC at meetings, events and stakeholder engagements.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

• Experience in an employer-facing role such as recruitment, business support, account management, or skills delivery.

• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Excellent communication and organisation skills.

• Experience managing multiple priorities and maintaining accurate records.

• A proactive, customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.

• Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of the skills, employment or workforce development landscape.

• Experience working with public sector, education or training providers.

• Understanding of economic development or business growth programmes.

• Experience using labour market or employer insight data.
