Overview:
Dunbar Education is seeking a passionate and skilled Food Technology Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated “Good” secondary school in Berkshire. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 months of UK teaching experience, delivering high-quality lessons that engage and inspire students in Food Technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and delivering lessons: Create and deliver engaging and practical Food Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum for KS3 and KS4 students.
Assessment: Mark, assess, and provide constructive feedback to students, helping them achieve their full potential.
Classroom management: Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment, managing behavior in line with school policies.
Curriculum development: Contribute to the planning and development of the Food Technology curriculum, ensuring that it meets the needs of all learners.
Practical skills: Teach key practical skills, such as cooking techniques, food hygiene, and nutrition, while encouraging creativity and experimentation in the kitchen.
Monitoring progress: Track and monitor student progress, identifying areas where additional support may be needed and liaising with parents/carers as required.
Extracurricular involvement: Support extracurricular activities and school events, such as cooking clubs or competitions.
Health & Safety: Ensure that all lessons and activities comply with health and safety regulations, particularly in the practical kitchen environment.
Requirements:
Qualifications: A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS or equivalent).
Experience: Minimum of 6 months of teaching experience within a UK secondary school, specifically in Food Technology or related subjects.
Subject knowledge: Strong understanding of the Food Technology curriculum, including nutrition, food science, and practical cooking techniques.
Classroom management: Proven ability to manage a classroom effectively and build positive relationships with students.
Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage students, staff, and parents.
Commitment: A passion for teaching and supporting students’ development, with a focus on improving outcomes for all learners.
Enhanced DBS check: Must hold or be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
Desirable:
Experience in running extracurricular clubs or activities.
Knowledge of the latest developments in food education, sustainability, and health.
