Job Description
We are representing a welcoming and inclusive primary school located in Potters Bar, committed to providing a supportive and enriching educational environment for all pupils. They strive to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive setting.
They are looking for someone that has worked one-to-one with children that have additional needs and supported them with academic subjects like Maths, English and Humanities.
The Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with special educational needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on a child’s educational journey by providing tailored support to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one support to a pupil with special educational needs, ensuring their safety, engagement, and well-being.
Assist in the implementation of the pupil’s Individual Education Plan (IEP), working closely with the class teacher and SENCo.
Support the pupil in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials and activities to meet their needs.
Foster the pupil’s social and emotional development through positive interactions and targeted interventions.
Monitor and record the pupil’s progress, maintaining detailed records and providing feedback to relevant staff.
Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages the pupil’s independence and confidence.
Requirements
NVQ Level 2 in Numeracy & Literacy (or equivalent).
Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly in a one-to-one setting, is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo, and other support staff.
Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude.
